William Jacob Fromm is an American professional football quarterback for the Buffalo Bills of Major League Baseball. He was drafted by the Bills in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He is a right tackle who plays the right side across the bottom in the defensive alignment.
Jake Fromm is listed at height as listed at birth. According to records obtained from the University of Alabama, he is 6 feet, two inches and weighsrium around 250 pounds. Jake Fromm attended the Alabama State University College for his four years of college football. He started all four seasons at the position and was also a member of the team's football program. He was a part of the team's spring workouts and expected to compete for the quarterback position during the 2021 season.
The Bills released the following statement regarding the trade of Jake Fromm: “We are pleased to move Jake Fromm, who has been a loyal member of our organization and a valuable contributor on our football team for the last several years. We believe this transaction is in the best interest of our football program moving forward.” So, it appears as if the Bills waived Jake Fromm rather than having him go into the immediate 2021 season. The move does leave a void at the right tackle position, but we will see if he can fill that role and start for the Bills during the 2021 season.
If you're one of the people who did not hear about the Fromm trade then you may want to check back in late 2021 or early 2021 because it may become newsworthy again. The trade included a fourth-round draft pick in the process. The fourth round picks are usually where the rookie drafts begin. If the Bills can find somebody with upside, they could have their number one option at the tight end spot locked up for the next few years in either Matt Stafford or Michael Vick.
Michael McDermitt was released after only one season with the Bills. He signed with the Jets and immediately set to work to prove that he is indeed a serviceable quarterback. So far, he has been extremely effective in New York and they have seemed content to let him battle for a backup role behind Mark Sanchez, although Michael Vick has received some new playing time as well.
So if Michael Vick is no longer in New York's plans, what could he do next? Many experts say that the only logical move is for him to enter the 2021 NFL draft and start his career with another team. Others believe that he should look into the quarterback position and play there the next two years. This is obviously based upon his experience, but how long would it take for him to actually develop into a quality starter at the NFL level? Obviously, a fifth round pick is not going to make any kind of difference in a player's development in two years, but it can certainly help him to learn the game.
So, what does all this mean for Jake Fromm, who many think is going to be a top ten pick in the next NFL draft? Well, it means that Jake Fromm has a lot of work to do in order to solidify himself as a top ten pick in the next NFL draft. This will require him to go through a series of workouts with the pros in order to show that he has the arm strength, athleticism, and intelligence necessary to be a successful NFL quarterback. There is also a lot of competition for snaps with the backup quarterback jobs in New York, so every signal has to be made that he is the clear number one quarterback. If Fromm does not perform well during his rookie training camp and he proves that he can do it on the practice field and in the preseason, then there will be a high expectation for him to start the 2021 season on the opening day of the new year.
If Jake Fromm wants to be taken in the first five rounds of the upcoming NFL draft and represent the University of Alabama at the 2021 NFL draft, then he needs to work out well in college. He also needs to work out with some of the top prospects in the country, and be prepared to undergo practice sessions with NFL scouts. If he can accomplish these tasks, then he will have established himself as one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL draft and will be a lock for a top ten spot on the NFL draft.
