The 2018 Lexus LS 500 F is the last technological breakthrough of the Japanese luxury brand, responsible for making the most of the German premium brands: the BMW 7 Series and, of course, the Mercedes Benz S Class.
But how to reward the captains of the industry with their reliable luxury barges? Well, your car could stand out and, with its avant garde design, the LS 500 certainly does it in a traditionally conservative class. Take advantage of the brand’s iconic grille, sharp edged headlamps and bodywork, mimicking the much loved Lexus LC 2+2 coupe, whether or not it shares the 2018 Lexus LS 500 F platform.
While the large living room shares the 2018 Lexus LS 500 F platform, it is ten inches longer, which of course allows it to offer lavish space levels and more legroom in the back than any other other LS presented before. As Lexus, the standard features are sturdy and include 28 way power front seats that heat, cool and hide the back a Mark Levison 3D audio system and a 12.3 inch screen that eliminates the terrible control of the old car’s joystick for a more user friendly touch screen. This technology is then buried in luxurious materials, including laser cut leather and Shimamoku wood, before being bathed in ambient lighting apparently inspired by Japanese lanterns.
The new LS has announced good news under the hood, with the retired 4.6-liter V-8 removed for a modern 3.5 liter V-6. The double turbo produces 415 horsepower and 442 lb-ft, an increase of 29 horsepower and 75 lb-ft compared to the previous V-8. In addition to this additional increase, Lexus has also promised greater fuel economy and, although mpg figures are not yet available, it is safe to assume that the V-6 should yield more miles per gallon. In terms of offline performance, the LS 500 needs 4.5 seconds to reach 100 km / h, which is great for a large rear wheel drive sedan. The transmission is the latest 10 speed automatic from the company. As you may have guessed, the same 3.5 liter V-6 also helps the 2018 Lexus LS 500 F to evolve, but the news is not so lucky, it’s that the exit did not changed at all. On the opposite side, the 2018 Lexus LS 500 F package comes with chassis upgrades. There is an updated VDIM system that incorporates ABS, traction control, stability control, EPS and some other functions. The VDIM controls all vehicle subsystems, including braking, steering, powertrain and suspension, which means the 2018 Lexus LS 500 F should be significantly more dynamic than the standard LS 500. If that’s not the case, Lexus has a big problem on their hands. The 2018 Lexus LS 500 F update is also available for the LS 500h, which combines the 3.5 liter V6 and an electric motor in a highly efficient hybrid drive train. The V-6 has a power rating of 295 horsepower and 258 lb-ft, but when the batteries reach it, the power of the system goes up to 354 horsepower. Charging from 0 to 60 mph takes 5.2 seconds in the rear wheel drive configuration, while AWD data is not yet available.
As a high end model, the F Sport is obviously the most expensive version of the LS. While the LS 500 is selling for as low as $ 75,000, the 2018 LS 500 F reaches $ 81,000. For this amount, you get the rear wheel drive model. Go to the all wheel drive and the sticker goes to $ 84,220. In addition to the usual options, the F Sport can be equipped with the Performance Pack. Available at $ 9,700, adds dynamic reverse steering, variable transmission ratio steering and active stabilizers. However, this package is not available for the all wheel drive version.
