The first signs of Ford’s commitment to streamline its lineup now extend to its luxury Lincoln division. The midsize luxury sedan of the 2019 Lincoln MKZ has seen its range reduced from four to three versions, all of which now feature active safety equipment previously optional in standard equipment. The movements mark a departure of sedans in the automaker’s range.
Although the exterior dimensions are typical of this type of sedan, the 2019 Lincoln MKZ may seem narrow inside, perhaps because it seems narrow. Front passengers have plenty of room for the head and legs, the rear margin is above the category average, but the height below the back is below average, especially with the optional panoramic roof. Front visibility is good despite the thickness of the front pillars, but the large rear pillars also mean large blind spots. A high boot prevents rearward visibility and the panoramic sunroof blocks the top of the rear window when it is open. The rear view camera is standard, but a panoramic view camera is not available.
The cabin materials of the 2019 Lincoln MKZ are not as competitive as before. The interiors of BMW and Mercedes feel much more exclusive. Our 2019 Lincoln MKZ test featured a number of construction issues, including a flashing LED, a squeaky armrest, a roasted ambient light strip, and a non aligned door/board trim.
The 2019 Lincoln MKZ is available with three powertrains (four cylinder, six cylinder and hybrid) and three models. 2019 Lincoln MKZ base is well equipped, but with Reserve I, you get extra technology and interior options. Reserve II further increases luxury services and technology. For gasoline models, a standard 2.0 liter (245 hp) turbocharged four cylinder engine is standard. It is associated with a six speed automatic transmission and front wheel drive. Four wheel drive is available as an option. The 2019 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid uses a 2.0 liter four cylinder engine combined with an electric motor to produce a combination of 188 horsepower. However, AWD is not available for the hybrid. The basic 2019 Lincoln MKZ model is well equipped with features such as 18 inch wheels, adaptive suspension, adaptive xenon headlights, heated mirrors, rear parking sensors, keyless entry and ignition, automatic climate control two zone, leatherette upholstery, faux leather upholstery, heated and adjustable front seats, driver’s seat memory configurations and fold down 60/40 folding rear seat with step.
Even with the new technology, the 2019 Lincoln MKZ will not cost much more than the model from last year. Its base price increases from $ 450 to $ 36,995, including mandatory destination fees, reports CarsDirect
