The big change for the 2020 BMW X5 is the addition of two new versions to the line. First, the sDrive40i, the basic model with rear-wheel drive. At the other end of the line is the M50i, which has a more powerful engine, a sports suspension and an M-Sport body kit. BMW will also offer an xDrive45e plug-in hybrid at some point in the future.
The BMW X5 usually sleeps five, and the 40i offers space for up to seven people ($ 2,200) with an optional third row. The best way to handle the family traffic in the larger BMW X7, which has a third larger series. The 2020 BMW X5 can swallow 33.9 cubic feet of cargo, or 72.3 with the second folded series. The standard BMW safety technology convinces. Each X5 features automatic emergency braking, a front-end collision warning, a lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, a rear crossfire warning, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive headlights, and automatic high beams. The professional driver assistance package ($ 1,700) offers adaptive cruise control, lane departure assistance and assistance with congestion. The IIHS qualifies the X5 well and awards him the Top Safety Pick Plus award. Interestingly, the NHTSA disagrees that it has given the X5 a four-star overall safety rating that is low for a new vehicle.
Infotainment the 2020 BMW X5 is powered by an attractive 12.3-inch touch screen with the latest BMW iDrive 7.0 system. It has USB connectivity, Bluetooth, navigation and a touch screen controller with optional gesture control. Compatibility with Apple CarPlay is included in the first year. After that, BMW raises a subscription fee of $ 80, a practice that no other automaker shares. The xDrive50i and M50i also offer wireless charging and Wi-Fi hotspots. Finishing Level 40i includes two variants: sDrive40i and xDrive40i. The two models have the same standard features, except for an all-terrain package and rear-wheel steering option, which are only available on the xDrive40i. These standard equipment features are complete: a panoramic sunroof, heated electric front seats and 16 positions, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are just some of the luxurious details. BMW groups the best options in three luxury packages: Comfort, Premium and Executive. Wireless charging, a wireless access point, and four-zone automatic climate control are included in the convenience package for $ 1,050. Remote launch requires the Premium Package ($ 2,300), which includes gesture control and all the convenience package features. Many of the options are available a la carte. Remarkable freelancers are Remote Start ($ 300), adjustable air suspension ($ 1,000) and acoustic glass ($ 600). The standard upholstery is synthetic, but leather can be bought for $ 1,450.
The 2020 BMW X5 sDrive40i will be equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharger in 6-speed format, which provides 340 hp via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Synthetic leather covers are just as standard as the 19-inch wheels. The X5 sDrive40i mimics the X5 xDrive40i in most of its optional packages, except that the X5 rear-wheel drive omits the optional off-road steering and rear-wheel packages. Like last year, the X5 is offered in the xDrive40i, xDrive50i and M50i configurations with higher performance and higher prices. A powerful X5M will be released shortly, as well as an X5e with hybrid battery, which BMW has not yet described in detail.
BMW has confirmed that it will offer a 2020 BMW X5 sDrive40i this year, which will cost less than $ 60,000 when it arrives at the dealers soon. The base crossover is only equipped with rear-wheel drive, while the rest of the line is equipped with four-wheel drive.
