My Pretty Pony is one of the most popular and best selling MySpace profiles! This is one of the few profile themes that allows members to add their own personality, as well as a picture, to their page! It is also one of the most updated and actually has quite a few pony photos on it. Unfortunately, many of the pony photos are very high quality and some people may have seen them before! I have found a few methods to make them a little less common.
The first method that I have used to make my Pony images less common is to disable the automatic downloads. When someone searches for something on MySpace they are usually prompted with several options. A user can select “use all images”. That will cause every image that is loaded to be shown on the page. So now your Pony pictures will appear everywhere! However, it is still possible for that person to click on one of your pictures and accidentally load another one, which defeats the purpose of having the auto downloads.
The second method is to change the setting on your browser to not display the image when you search! For example, you can configure your browser so that it only displays the message if it has new messages. Then when you save an old message, it won't be displayed! You could change this in the settings of your browser or software. This will prevent your friends from searching for your profile by seeing your email address at the bottom of your MySpace page!
Some people use a photo sharing program to send their images to their friends, but that is not a great way to hide your email address! In order to hide the email address you need to know who is sending the photo. Using programs like Photoshop is one option, but it is also one of the more difficult ways to do this! I have learned that there are programs available for free that will solve this problem! They are called PeeWee Tracking Software and Hiding your IP Address With PeeWee!
One way that you can avoid being spammed by your friends is to set up two separate Yahoo accounts for the email and the phone. That way if someone does search for something on Yahoo or MSN and your address shows up in the search they will not be shown your email. If they were to try and get in touch with you through your Yahoo account, you would not be able to tell them your address. But with a separate Yahoo account, you can simply delete any messages that are coming in.
There are other options, however, none are as easy to use as hiding your IP address with a software program. One thing that makes this easier is that there are programs out there that will do the hard work for you. These software programs will go through all of the searching that you have done for your images on Yahoo and Google and save them into an easy to use folder for you. Then when you want to send an image message to one of your contacts all you have to do is click the “send message” button and it will go right into the recipient's Inbox.
You can even send one message to many different people if you wish. That way everyone will get a different message than they did when they searched for you. And if there happens to be a message in the Inbox that you don't recognize you can simple search for the IP address and a similar name to see if you recognize it. If you can't you simply delete it and move on.
The other nice thing about this software is that you can set it so that the message will show up at all times. So, whenever someone searches for the same name and you have their Inbox open you can quickly go into the search bar and click a message to send. It is that easy! The one thing I would like to point out is that this software does not automatically send the message to every IM client on Yahoo or Google. It only sends to those who you specifically chose to receive it and you may need to add a different address if you wanted to.
