Halo Infinite is a new first-person shooter video game developed by343 Industries and released by Microsoft Game Studios exclusively for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360S, and Xbox One. The seventh main installment in the popular Halo franchise, Halo Infinite follows the story of Master Chief and his allies, the Covenant. The game takes place between the events of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2, and introduces players to a new cast of characters, all with different motivations.
Throughout the game, Master Chief and his allies struggle to stop the Covenant's efforts to destroy the Halo system and prevent the Flood from returning. The Covenant consists of genetically engineered super-soldiers that were once ordered by the Prophets to exterminate all life on Earth. The group has been defeated several times throughout the series, most notably at the hands of Master Chief during the events of Halo: Combat Evolved. In Halo: Reach, the Covenant's primary fleet, the Pillar of Autumn, becomes stranded on a distant gas giant, Halo's High Charity.
Halo Infinite opens with Master Chief and his allies setting out to find a way to stop the Covenant from retrieving Installation 04. As they journey to Installation 04, they encounter the Covenant's leader, the Prophet of Truth, who claims that he will help them retrieve the Halo system if they follow his orders.
Although the Covenant and the Flood continue to fight each other, Master Chief and his allies also come into conflict with the Flood and the Covenant. After being forced to flee from the Covenant, Master Chief finds themselves alone in the Covenant ship, the UNSC Pillar of Autumn, as it crashes onto Halo's Halo Installation. Once the Halo fails, the Covenant, believing that the Flood are responsible, launch an attack on the Flood forces while Master Chief is off-guard, and escape in a Flood cruiser. Eventually, Master Chief and his allies locate Truth and his Covenant, and battle them along with a Flood containment facility, a Covenant super-carrier, and the Master Chief himself.
Halo Infinite also includes a number of new, non-essential multiplayer maps for both Horde and Team Deathmatch modes, which can be played with up to four players. In addition, there are two maps exclusively for the Flood – Floodgate and Floodtown, as well as many classic Halo maps like Blue Base and the Halo Waypoint that can be played as Infection or Skirmish.
If you're looking for a fun game with lots of action, you can't go wrong with Halo Infinite. While the story may be interesting, it's not as exciting as you might think, and the game's story isn't particularly engrossing, but there are plenty of fun features that make it a fun experience. If you want to play Halo with your friends, or find yourself with a challenge, you'll want to give this game a chance.
