Modern technology background is an interesting subject to study. To give an idea of the topic, technology is used here in a very broad sense. Modern technology is a very broad term which literally refers to all the improvements that have been made in the world of technology in the past few hundred years. It encompasses a wide range of scientific and engineering fields. Thus, the term modern technology is also called as modernity because it was actually born out of the Industrial revolution in the late eighteenth century.
Basically, there are three things which make up this technological system. These are Information Technology, Information Communication Technology and Machines for Manufacturing. The first two forms are just different facets of the same system. For instance, Information Technology deals with all the methods and procedures involved in transfer of information from one source to another. This then leads to creation of new products and knowledge itself. On the other hand, Information Communication Technology deals more with the systems and tools that are used to carry out this process of transferring information.
Now, let us have a look at the history of modern technology. As already mentioned above, this was basically born out of the industrial revolution. However, this time the industrial revolution meant that it was no longer a case of manual labour. In fact, all the manpower had been either converted to manual work or had been killed off. Thus, there was now the need to find new ways and means of creating products and knowledge.
One of the most important inventions of this era was the mechanical engineering. This mainly involved various innovations in different areas such as electricity, chemistry, and mechanics. Some of these mechanical devices became the basis of some of the major technologies of this period. For instance, the discovery of electricity was largely due to work done by Michael Faraday. His discoveries on the subject led him to earn the name'scientist' and he was able to use his knowledge in many different fields.
A few decades later came about the discovery of mechanics and soon thereafter electronic appliances were developed. The impact of these appliances was far reaching and soon there was a need for better machines to make these electronic items work. Thus, the invention of the telephone was brought about. The impact of this phone was far reaching and this made communication very easy. This has remained a very important part of modern technology and is still a very useful tool to this day.
The invention of radioactivity also contributed greatly to modern technology. Radioactive materials, such as hydrogen, became very popular. With the help of this new technology, scientists were able to map the structure of atoms and also learn about the properties of matter. This paved the way for the study of the big bang theory. It explains that our universe was created in only a matter of a few seconds. Thus, this theory also provides us with the reason why stars are very common and that our galaxy is very tiny.
There have been many other inventions that contributed greatly to modern technology. The impact of these inventions cannot be ignored. Examples of them include the electric light bulb, television, computers, microwaves, airplanes, steam engine, gas fire engines, and many others. All these things are a result of someone looking for a better way of making things work.
There are also many people who are deeply involved in the field of modern technology. They keep on researching for new ways of making things work more efficiently. Many of them have earned a lot of money and have invented things worth millions of dollars. Thus, we can see how important this field is. We cannot ignore its influence on the society because all the developments in it have helped man to progress as a whole.
