With the release of the music video for “Starboy”, the weekend has finally broken out from his well kept rock and roll identity and revealed that he's a true artist. In keeping with the original concept of this track, the song is all about the way the Weeknd wants you to feel when you listen to it. The Weeknd feat Daft Punk has been created in conjunction with DAFT PUNK.
“Starboy” is a perfect example of how the Weeknd performs his vocals on the track. Instead of simply playing them backwards like most songs do these days, the Weeknd feat Daft Punk allows for a bit more creativity. In order to achieve the kind of depth and complexity required, this is done by inserting multiple vocals at different times. It's like the Weeknd is playing all the instruments in reverse…but it works perfectly!
When you play the “Starboy” featuring the Weeknd feat Daft Punk you're not only able to hear the full instrumental but you can also hear the vocals being played back simultaneously. This adds even further layers of complexity to the track. If you take the time to listen closely, you'll be able to notice the original guitar part slowly fading away as the Weeknd sings the lyrics.
Of course, just like with many of the songs featured on Daft Punk's recent releases, you will hear a full choir chorus as well. But again, it's much more complex this time around because the weekend is allowed to sing along with the guitar part. This not only makes the song very fast but also incredibly expressive at the same time.
Just like with everything else you will find on Daft Punk's new album, “Daft Punk – Da Funk”, the lyrics are completely original. But what's so great about them? Well, one word; emotions!
When it comes to writing a song, emotions are key. You have to write them down before you can really let your mind process them and really allow yourself to experience them. And “Starboy” is an excellent example of why the Weeknd is such a talented singer and artist. He's allowed to express himself on this song by using a number of emotions.
Because the vocals on “Starboy” are being played back simultaneously with the guitar, the listener is allowed to hear each emotion and really feel it while listening to the song. It's one of the best examples of “emotionality” that Daft . . . . . . Punk has achieved on a song. It's also one of the most memorable Daft Punk songs of all time.
Do not hate those who say bad things to bring you down, because it is they who make you stronger every day. Just because someone else is not nice to us, doesn't mean we have to reciprocate in the same way. One of the best things in life is seeing a smile on your parents' faces, and realizing that you are the reason.
